We can think of no name more fitting than this.
It conveys a deep sense of diversity and acceptance,
and conjures thoughts of working together to create something beautiful.

Our Mission...
Our goal has always been to educate the community by perpetuating the Polynesian Spirit, sharing the music, dance, and culture of the Pacific with the People of our Community and spreading supportive and positive family values through cultural performances that encourage diversity and acceptance.

Ia orana! (Hello) My name is Sherri (Moanio’kekuahiwi) Bristow. My journey into Hula and Tahitian Ori has led me to travel to Hawai’i and Tahiti several times to study and learn more about the culture and to see it as a way to help our world be a better place through Aloha. I joined the Board to help work towards building our non-profit organization. My goal is to educate our community about the Polynesian culture and to invite people to haere mai (join us!)
~Board President: Sherri Bristow

We're tax deductable!
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation (EID#: 81-1533223) that supports cultural performances of Polynesian dance and music in the community at a variety of local events, including convalescent homes, senior/assisted living, festivals, adult day care and health care centers.
I’m sort of a Hawaiian hillbilly. I first joined the troupe back in 2010, when my son became part of boys class. Though I don’t dance, I embrace the Hawaiian culture and the family values that they promote. As the treasurer of TMTA, I am committed to ensuring that Te Mau continues to provide unity and encouragement to the community at large.

Our Halau
Many of our volunteer dancers learn to dance at Merced's local Halau (school of hula), South Pacific Dance Company (SPDC), under the skillful direction of Rebecca Pi'ilaniokamoku'aina Manandic. SPDC has been active in Merced and surrounding areas for over 40 years and is the founding force behind the creation of the longest annually held Tahiti Fete (Kiki Raina Tahiti Fete) outside of French Polynesia, which is one of the events Te Mau participates in.
Our members are then free to volunteer to perform at any of the community events that we appear at, spreading the Joy of Aloha, IaOraNa, and Kia Ora to all the islands of the Central Valley community.

What we do
VolunteerOur volunteers are active at a variety of local events, showcasing Polynesian dances and cultural practices.
|
EducateWe make it a point to always educate our community on Polynesian values, beliefs and attitudes.
|
SupportWe provide a support network for a variety of groups, such as the elderly and people with disabilities.
|
TMTA provides a place for those who otherwise, don't feel like they fit in, both for the community and each other. As a person with disabilities, I often felt like I didn't belong. TMTA gave me my first real home, and helped to guide me during some of my most formative years.
